With nearly 25 years of experience in animal welfare, Journey founded this organization dedicated to tackling the pressing issue of pet surrenders due to financial hardships in New Hampshire. In the face of economic challenges, many find themselves unable to afford proper care for their beloved pets, prompting Journey to create a forward-thinking group aimed at preserving the human-animal bond and preventing pet relinquishment as a last resort. Central to this effort is a commitment to promoting spaying/neutering and providing accessible veterinary care. Additionally, she thought it was important to offer educational seminars to the public, covering a variety of topics related to animal care and aiding stray animals. Having dedicated 19 years of service to the Manchester Animal Shelter, serving as both a volunteer and Co-President, her initiatives include the implementation of two spay/neuter programs: the Quick Fix Clinic, which has altered over 10,000 owned felines, and Fix-a-Pit, providing free spay/neuter services for over 1,500 owned pit bulls. Additionally, she created initiatives such as the Pet Food Pantry, Southern Dog Transport Program, Reading to Dogs Program, and Senior for Senior program, all aimed at improving the welfare of animals and their human companions. For 12 years, she led the Wine and Chocolate Fundraiser, which became the flagship event for the Manchester Animal Shelter, raising nearly $500,000 in support of the shelter's mission. Journey also served as Vice President of Animal Allies for seven years, leading vital Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts for over 3,000 feral cats and organizing bi-monthly NH Feral spay/neuter clinics. Her volunteer work at the Salem Animal Rescue League over eight years involved adoption counseling and medical team support. She has fostered thousands of cats and kittens for various groups. Journey's dedication and contributions have been recognized through accolades such as being named one of Union Leader's '40 Under 40' and receiving WZID's 20 Outstanding Women's award. Her efforts have earned her the esteemed Spirit of New Hampshire Award for her impactful volunteerism within the state. Journey shares her home with Sky, a senior blind dog from St. Croix, whom she recently adopted during a family vacation.
